In a startling encounter on a Florida highway, a driver was shocked to discover that a bald eagle, America’s iconic bird of prey, had become trapped in the grille of his car. The bizarre incident quickly went viral after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office shared images of the unexpected rescue on Facebook, garnering over 10,000 reactions.

The story unfolded when Billi West, who was driving with her son, noticed something unusual on the front of a car traveling ahead of them. At first, they thought it might be a decorative decal—until the bird turned and looked right at them. “Oh, my gosh!” West exclaimed as she realized the creature was a live bald eagle.

West immediately signaled for the driver to pull over, and when he did, he was just as stunned to find the majestic bird wedged in the grille of his vehicle. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was promptly called to the scene, and with the help of officers, the bird was carefully freed from its predicament. The eagle was then taken to BEAKS Wildlife Sanctuary, a local animal rescue group, for evaluation.

Fortunately, the eagle was unharmed in the incident. “He is doing really well,” West reported, adding that the bird is expected to be released back into the wild as early as next week.
